L – valine is one of the 20 amino acids that make up proteins.

It is an essential amino acid and glycogenic amino acid for mammals.

D-valine is present in some actinomycins such as valinomycin. In animals, L-type is easily absorbed by intestinal wall, and its physiological effect is twice that of D-type. It is an essential amino acid for poultry growth and feather development. Studies have shown that in the broiler diet based on wheat, barley or corn, valine is also a restrictive amino acid.

Valine is an important nutrient in dairy cows, which is closely related to production performance.

Studies have confirmed that the biological function of valine in cattle is similar to that in pigs.

It plays a role in oxidative energy supply, regulating amino acid and protein metabolism, improving lactation performance and enhancing immunity.

‌The addition of valine to feed has multiple effects, mainly including improving animal production performance, enhancing immune function, regulating endocrine levels, and reducing feed costs and environmental pollution. ‌

Valine is one of the branched-chain amino acids and is an essential amino acid, which means that the animal body cannot synthesize it by itself and must be taken from the diet to meet its nutritional needs. Adding valine to feed can bring the following benefits:

‌Improving animal production performance‌: The addition of valine can increase the milk production of lactating sows. By affecting the production of alanine and its release from muscles, the alanine in plasma increases to meet the mammary tissue’s demand for glucose raw materials, thereby increasing milk production.

In addition, valine also has a positive effect on the production performance of piglets, which can increase the average daily weight gain and feed efficiency of piglets‌12.

Enhancing immune function‌: Valine can promote the transformation of animal bone T cells into mature T cells and enhance the immune function of the animal body. A lack of valine can lead to a decrease in complement C3 and transferrin levels, affect the growth of the thymus and peripheral lymphoid tissue, inhibit the growth of acidic and neutrophilic leukocytes, and thus affect the immune response of animals. ‌2.

‌Regulating endocrine levels‌: The addition of valine can affect the endocrine levels of animals. Adding valine to the diet of lactating sows and lactating rats can increase the concentration of prolactin and production hormones in plasma, which has a positive effect on the reproduction and growth and development of animals. ‌23.

‌Reducing feed costs and reducing environmental pollution‌: By adding amino acids such as valine to feed, it can help reduce the amount of crude protein added to feed, thereby reducing feed costs. This practice helps reduce nitrogen emissions in agricultural production, reduces greenhouse gas emissions and the possibility of eutrophication of natural resources, and is conducive to the sustainable development of agriculture.
